I grew up in Ypsilanti and Livonia and always wanted to be a lawyer. I worked and volunteered since I was 14, started my first business when I was 18, and helped create LEAP – Lawyers for Equal Access Project, Inc. to help people with moderate means who could not afford standard attorney rates. Since then, I served on several legal committees and associations, usually focusing on poverty and animal issues. Over the past decade, my private practice focused on animal welfare and dog law, in particular, although I handle a variety of cases in criminal, traffic, family, and probate law. If I can’t help you, I will find someone who can! I have two professional daughters, Samantha and Lindsey, with my first husband, Ivan, who died of pancreatic cancer, and a daughter, Courtney, 16, along with my husband, Chris. Our family and life is all about the dogs — Lindsey is in veterinary school, Courtney is training her first service dog, and all of us are highly competitive in dog sports.
